PRACTICAL NURSING PROGRAM
PROGRAM OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this program is to prepare the student for entry-level employment as a practical nurse. The program provides the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills competence to obtain licensure necessary for the successful practice of practical nursing. Upon completion of the practical nursing program students will be ready to sit for the National Council for State Boards of Nursing Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing (NCLEX-PN). Upon successfully passing the NCLEX-PN examination students will be eligible to be licensed with the Florida Board of Nursing as Practical Nurse (PN). The Practical Nursing licensure is required to work as entry level Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Practical Nursing program provides an avenue for students to pursue a course of study and gain occupational knowledge in practical nursing. Courses offered in the practical nursing program provide foundational knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to become a successful practical nurse in the workplace. The institution awards a diploma in practical nursing upon the successful completion of all approved coursework equivalent to (1440 clock hours) for the practical nursing program. The Practical Nursing program is an intense, full time traditional classroom program which requires full time dedication and undivided attention from the student
